New Delhi. Paris Olympics silver medallist Neeraj Chopra performed brilliantly at the Lausanne Diamond League on Thursday, August 22. Neeraj finished second with a season’s best throw of 89.49m. Neeraj was not in his best form but gave his best effort in the final attempt. Once again he missed the 90m distance. Anderson Peters broke the meeting record to take the first place with a throw of 90.61m.
Jacob Vadlej and Neeraj had to struggle with the conditions on the day. Neeraj started with a throw of 82.10m and was fourth at the end of Round 1. Anderson Peters took an early lead with a brilliant throw of 86.36 at that time, while Jacob Vadlej seemed to struggle initially.
The Indian legend had a better second attempt. Neeraj came back into the top 3 with a throw of 83.21m. Peters then threw 88.49m while Julian Weber followed him with 87.08m. Ukraine’s Artur Felfner threw 83.38m, pushing Neeraj to fourth again.
Neeraj’s focus shifts to Zurich
Neeraj Chopra has always been a star in Lausanne. The double Olympic medallist won the Lausanne Diamond League in 2022 with an effort of 87.66m and topped the podium in 2023 with 89.08m.
