In Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh, more than 4 thousand women were becoming widows from Suhagin for the last 3 years. They were taking both ration and pension in the name of their husbands. The entire fraud has come to light in the investigation. Actually, 4487 women of the district become Suhagin every month while taking ration and these women are taking pension by showing their husbands as dead and becoming widows. When this was revealed, everyone was surprised.
When this shocking matter came to light, the district administration started investigation. The surprising thing is that this irregularity was going on for the last three years. It was revealed when ration cards were linked to Aadhaar. It was revealed that 4487 women were taking ration in the name of their husbands from the Food Logistics Department and these women were taking the benefit of widow pension from the Women Welfare Department.

For investigation, the Food Logistics Department asked for a list from the Women Welfare Department. When both the lists were matched, 4487 women of the district were found to be involved in fraud.
Pension worth more than 16 crore rupees was siphoned off
These women are also taking pension from the Women Welfare Department and are also taking ration of their husband’s share registered in the ration card by becoming Suhagin. According to sources, these women were taking advantage of these schemes for the last three years. They were getting a pension of Rs 1 thousand every month. If the pension of 4487 women for three years is added, then they were given an amount of more than 16 crore 15 lakh. Not only this, these women also got five kg ration for 1 unit on the ration card.
