Former Indian cricket team captain and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has entered the world of car racing. The third season of the Indian Racing Festical is going to be held in the months of August to September this year. Before the start of the 2024 season, Sourav Ganguly has bought the Kolkata Royal Tigers Racing team. Let us tell you that the Kolkata team will be making its debut in this festival, in which teams from Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Kochi and Ahmedabad are already present.
What is Indian Racing Festival?
The Indian Racing Festival is a motorsport event, which was started by Racing Promotions Private Limited (RRPL) and J&K Tourism Department. Under this, two competitions are conducted, each of which has five rounds of racing, which are held at many prestigious places in India. There are also 2 championships at stake in these, namely Formula 4 Indian Championship and Indian Racing League Championship.

Sourav Ganguly has been one of India’s greatest cricketers and is very popular across the country. In such a situation, his becoming the owner of the Kolkata Royal Tigers racing team will be promoting motorsport in India. RRPL Managing Director Akhilesh Reddy welcomed Sourav Ganguly’s interest in motorsport and said, “Motorsport has always been a passion for me and together with Kolkata Royal Tigers, we will gain a new identity in India through the Indian Racing Festival. Together we will create a new generation of people who love motorsport. We welcome Sourav Ganguly as the owner of the Kolkata franchise.”
