Kaushambi. In the Lok Sabha elections-2024, Vinod Sonkar, who was elected MP from Kaushambi parliamentary seat twice on BJP ticket, was defeated by Indi alliance candidate Pushpendra Saroj by one lakh three thousand 944 votes and became the youngest MP.
Pushpendra, who got five lakh nine thousand 787 votes, will be the youngest MP in the history of the country so far. On June 4, 2024, Pushpendra turned 25 years 03 months 03 days old. Till now Chandrani Murmu was the youngest woman MP from Keonjhar Lok Sabha seat of Odisha. Chandrani was elected MP at the age of 25 years 11 months.
Pushpendra was born on March 1, 1999. At present, his age is 25 years. He has studied till intermediate from Dehradun, while he has done his graduation from Queen Mary University London. Father Indrajit Saroj was MLA from Manjhanpur reserved seat for four consecutive times since 1997.
He also became a cabinet minister in the state government thrice. At the same time, he lost the election to BJP candidate Lal Bahadur in the 2017 assembly elections for the fifth time. He won again in the 2022 assembly elections and is currently an MLA from Manjhanpur. He joined the SP in 2017.
