17 hours after escaping from custody in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, the miscreant was killed in an encounter by the police. The incident is from Shergarh area. When the police-SOG team surrounded him on Saturday morning, the miscreant fired 7 rounds at them. Then he ran towards the field. The police also retaliated and chased the miscreant and shot him. Due to this, he fell down injured. The police took him to Shergarh CHC, where the doctors declared the injured miscreant dead.
The police said that the miscreant Manoj had committed the crime of rape and robbery of an elderly woman a few days ago. On Friday, he was shot in a police encounter. He was admitted to the hospital. But the miscreant escaped from the hospital. In 2015 also, he had raped a woman at gunpoint. He had also gone to jail on charges of robbery in Vrindavan.
The miscreant Manoj had committed the crime of rape and robbery with a 65-year-old woman on the pretext of giving her a lift on May 25. After this incident in Mahavan police station area, the police engaged in investigation had identified the accused from CCTV. The police arrested the accused in an encounter on Friday, May 31, at 3 am. During this, he was shot in both his legs.
Due to which he was admitted to the district hospital for treatment. On Friday morning, he escaped by dodging the police and hospital staff and opening the handcuffs tied to his hands. Earlier there was a reward of 25 thousand on him. After escaping from police custody, the amount was increased to 50 thousand.
The miscreant was trying to leave Mathura
The accused Manoj was trying to leave Mathura. The police was searching for him. Early Saturday morning, the police found his location in Shergarh area. The police set up a blockade to catch the miscreant, he was trying to escape from Dalota Sehi Road. At 4 am, he came on a bike on Sehi Road. As soon as he saw the police, he started firing. He ran towards Bamba track about 200 meters from Lauhalari Mata Mandir Tiraha on Sei Road towards Agaryala. He was shot in the chest in the retaliatory firing by the police and SOG team. This led to his death.
The police team has recovered a .32 bore country-made pistol, 8 live cartridges, 7 empty cartridges and a bike without a number plate from the possession of the criminal. At present, the body of the criminal has been sent for post-mortem. Investigation is ongoing in the case.
