Lucknow: A police van carrying women prisoners suddenly caught fire in UP’s capital Lucknow on Tuesday. The driver of the van, female prisoners and policemen saved their lives by jumping from the vehicle in time. Within no time the fire engulfed the entire vehicle. The policemen who reached the spot controlled the fire after hours of hard work. This incident took place on Mall Avenue Road behind Raj Bhavan. Passersby immediately informed the fire brigade. There was panic on the road due to the fire.
Fire department officer Rajkumar Rawat said that the prison van was carrying women prisoners. There was sparking in the vehicle near Raj Bhavan and it caught fire. The policemen showed promptness and took down all the women prisoners safely. As soon as we received information, we immediately sent two fire tenders and brought the fire under control. There were nine women prisoners in the van who are completely safe.

Within a short time the fire engulfed the entire vehicle and created panic all around. The fire department was immediately informed. The local people also tried their best to extinguish the fire. After the information, the fire brigade vehicle reached the spot and brought the fire under control. CFO said that at around 12:15 pm, fire was reported in R Enterprises E Rickshaw and Rajdhani Garage near Village Ujriyan Near Metro Hospital, which has been completely extinguished.
