Lucknow. Women beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme in the state will be given free gas cylinders on Holi. This cylinder will be given to 1.75 crore beneficiary women.
In the financial year 2023-24, a budget of Rs 2,312 crore has been kept to provide two gas cylinders each to these beneficiaries. At present, the efforts of Yogi government will make this festival of colors special for these poor women and their families.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had started this scheme to provide free gas cylinders to poor women across the country twice a year. This scheme is being run successfully in Uttar Pradesh.
Free gas cylinder given on Diwali also
Under the first phase of the scheme, it was decided to give free cylinders to these beneficiaries in Diwali. So far 1.31 crore gas cylinders have been delivered. This cylinder was given to 80.30 lakh beneficiaries from November 2023 to 15 February 2024.
In the second phase, a decision will be taken to give it on the occasion of Holi. From January 1, 2024 till now, cylinders are being given to about 50.87 lakh beneficiaries. Thus far, it has been delivered to 1.31 crore beneficiaries. Rest of the beneficiaries will also be given its benefits soon.
