Nebua Naurangia (Kushinagar). Angered by the unnecessary beating of the JCB driver by the constable, the villagers chased the police jeep in the village on Friday. The three police personnel traveling in it somehow ran away and reached the police station. A large number of villagers along with the victim reached the police station demanding action. Protests started.
The SHO pacified them by investigating and giving assurance of action. The video of the policeman being chased is being circulated on the internet media. After the matter came to his notice, the SP suspended the accused constable Arvind Kumar Giri. The incident took place in Sirsia Kala village of Nebua Naurangiya area.
It is being told that cleaning work was going on in Nebua Naurangia police station. Constable Arvind Giri was going to Sirsia Kala village in a police station vehicle at around nine in the morning to bring workers. Arvind stopped Sirsia Khurd driver Arman Ansari who was traveling in a JCB on the way and interrogated him. There were two more soldiers with him.
The driver told that Sirsia was returning after digging a toilet in Veerbhan village. It is alleged that the constable asked for money from the driver and threatened the driver of dire consequences if he did not get it. Here the driver parked the JCB in front of the house of JCB owner Vinod Yadav of Sirsia Kala and started going home on bicycle.
The constable we met again on the way started beating him with a stick. Hearing the noise, people from nearby came. Within a short time this news spread in the village. Seeing a large number of people coming, the constable started returning with the jeep along with his comrades.
The angry rural police chased the vehicle. Shortly after this, the villagers took the driver along with them and reached the police station in a tractor-trolley. They started protesting demanding action against the constable.
Inspector-in-charge Harshvardhan Singh informed the higher officials about the matter. SP Dhawal Jaiswal said that the accused constable has been suspended and the investigation has been handed over to the CO and a report has been sought. Further action will be taken based on the report.
