In Uttar Pradesh, the court has given its verdict on Friday in the case of threatening Mahavir Prasad Rungta, brother of coal businessman Nandkishore Rungta of Varanasi. The Varanasi court has convicted the accused mafia Mukhtar Ansari and sentenced him to 5 years and 6 months imprisonment. Besides, a fine of Rs 10,000 has also been imposed. This decision has been given by Additional Civil Judge Senior Division I/in-charge of MP MLA court Ujjwal Upadhyay.
In fact, the statement of accused Mukhtar Ansari was recorded in the court on Thursday in the case of threatening Mahavir Prasad Rungta. Mukhtar Ansari, lodged in Banda jail, appeared in the court through video conferencing.
The decision has come after the signature of Mukhtar Ansari, lodged in Banda jail. During the hearing, Joint Director Prosecution Hari Kishore Singh and plaintiff’s advocates Vidhanchand Yadav and OP Singh presented the prosecution’s side.
An FIR was registered at Bhelupur police station in Varanasi in 1997.
Let us tell you that on January 22, 1997, coal businessman Nandkishore Rungta, resident of Ravindrapuri Colony, Varanasi, was kidnapped. Amidst the deliberations of this case, on the evening of 5 November 1997, Nand Kishore Rungta’s brother Mahavir Prasad Rungta was called and threatened. It was said not to advocate in the kidnapping case. Otherwise it will be bombed. In this case, an FIR was registered against Mukhtar Ansari at Bhelupur police station in Varanasi on 1 December 1997.
