Notice has been issued to Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan by the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court. This notice has been issued in the matter of advertising of pan masala companies. The Central Government’s lawyer also applied to the Lucknow bench to dismiss this appeal on this contempt petition.
Hearing will be held on this day
The Central Government’s lawyer also told the Lucknow bench that the Supreme Court is also hearing this case. For this reason this petition should be rejected. A single bench of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan has passed this contempt petition. Also, the date of next hearing has been fixed for May 9, 2024.
The bench of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan had earlier directed the Central Government to take a decision on the petitioner’s representation. It was argued that action should be taken against these actors who have been given high honors, but they are advertising for gutkha companies.
Central government received notice
The petitioner in this case said that a report was given to the government on October 22, but no action was taken in the matter. After this, while hearing the contempt petition, the High Court had issued a notice to the Cabinet Secretary of the Central Government.
During the hearing held on Friday, Deputy Solicitor General SB Pandey, on behalf of the Central Government, said that the Center has issued show cause notices to Akshay Kumar, Shahrukh Khan and Ajay Devgan and sought their reply. At the same time, the court was also informed that despite canceling the contract, actor Amitabh Bachchan has sent a legal notice to the concerned pan masala company for showing him in the advertisement.
