In line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s instructions to reduce road accidents in the state by 50 percent, the administration will now deal strictly with those who repeatedly break traffic rules. If any driver is challaned more than three times in a row, his driving license will be canceled and even after this, if the traffic rules are violated, the registration of the vehicles will be canceled.
Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra gave strict instructions in this regard on Wednesday during the review of Road Safety Week to be celebrated from 15 to 31 December. In an online meeting with Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates, the Chief Secretary suggested celebrating Road Safety Fortnight with inter-departmental coordination.
‘Awareness is necessary to reduce accidents’
The Chief Secretary said that most of the road accidents occur due to overspeeding, wrong side driving, use of mobile phones and drunk driving. There is a great need for awareness to reduce this. All Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates should work seriously on this. He said that during the fortnight, along with checking the fitness of all the school vehicles, the medical fitness of the vehicle drivers should also be checked. Students in educational institutions should be given information about road safety and traffic rules. In view of the fog, effective patrolling should be done.
‘Overloading should be stopped by the task force’
Health cards should be issued compulsorily for commercial drivers. Overloading should be stopped by the task force. He said that road safety committee meetings should be held compulsorily in all divisions and districts. Also inspect the critical care facilities available in the districts from time to time, so that the persons affected by road accidents can get immediate treatment in the district itself.
On December 9, the Chief Secretary also gave instructions regarding the proposed National Lok Adalat in all the districts of the state. Said, Uttar Pradesh has stood first in disposal of cases in Lok Adalats organized in the past. This time also the performance of the state should be the best. The Chief Secretary said that the Culture Festival will be organized from 25th December to 26th January under our culture-our identity. For the successful organization of the cultural festival, all preparations should be done on time.

During the review of Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra, he said that participation of maximum citizens at the local level should be ensured in the Yatra. The District Magistrate should review the journey daily. He said that the work of e-measles investigation of Rabi crop is to start from January 1. Surveyors and supervisors should be selected for the survey on time so that their training can be done by 25th December.
