Mathura: Now a ban has been imposed on entering Pagal Baba temple situated on Mathura-Vrindavan road wearing indecent clothes. The temple management has put up banners with this information outside the entry and exit gates.
Baldev Chaturvedi, manager of Pagal Baba Temple, said that people come to the temples wearing clothes upside down. Whereas one should come to the temple wearing modest clothes only. In such a situation, the temple management has decided that devotees coming wearing indecent clothes will not be allowed entry.
He said that devotees wearing short clothes, half pants, Bermudas, mini skirts, night suits, torn jeans, frocks etc. will not be allowed inside the temple. Earlier, there was a ban on coming to Radha Damodar temple of Vrindavan wearing indecent clothes. Similarly, along with Lakshmi ji temple of Belvan, a ban was imposed on coming to the Radharani temple of Barsana wearing indecent clothes.
Many temples have already been banned
This is not the first time that a temple administration has banned people from entering the premises wearing such clothes. A few months ago, the Birua Badi Temple administration of Badaun district had implemented the dress code. Here, the devotees coming to the temple were banned from wearing jeans, T-shirt, night suit and torn jeans inside the temple.
Strictness applied in the temple here also
It is noteworthy that Uttar Pradesh is not the only state where dress code has been implemented for devotees in temples. An old Jain temple in Himachal’s Shimla recently banned pilgrims from entering wearing short skirts or other provocative attire. Posters instructing devotees to wear appropriate clothing inside temples have been seen in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
