Lucknow: Four accused arrested by the police in connection with the murderous attack on Bhim Army chief and Azad Samaj Party (ASP) national president Chandrashekhar Azad have been arrested. Acting Director General of Police Vijay Kumar has given a reward of Rs 50,000 to the police team.
Annoyed by the contradictory statements of Azad, the incident was executed
During interrogation, the accused told that they had carried out the murderous attack after getting angry with Azad’s contradictory statements. In a statement issued on Sunday by Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar, it was said that in connection with the attack on Bhim Army chief Azad, the police arrested Vikas alias Vicky, Prashant and Lavish, residents of Deoband area of Saharanpur district and Haryana. Karnal resident Vikas alias Vicky was arrested on Saturday. He said that the police recovered two 315 bore pistols, four cartridges etc. used in the incident from the possession of the arrested accused.
The accused did a fatal attack on the Bhim Army chief in Deoband
Significantly, on June 28, when the Bhim Army chief was returning from a program with his colleagues, some unknown miscreants attacked him in Deoband in which he was injured. Azad was admitted to the hospital from where he was discharged on Thursday evening. The accused told the police during interrogation that on the morning of June 28, when they were returning from Meerut with Vicky, a resident of Karnal, Haryana, they stopped at a dhaba near Rohana Kala toll on the way to eat. According to the police, the accused told during interrogation that they saw a huge crowd gathering there, on finding out, they came to know that Chandrashekhar Azad along with his supporters was going to attend a program in Deoband by this route and only then did they stop. Planned an attack on Azad.
Police revealed the incident within 72 hours
The statement said that on being asked the reason for the attack, the accused told the police, “Azad had given contrary statements in the last few months in Delhi and nearby places, which hurt us a lot.” According to the statement, the accused told the police In interrogation, the accused told in detail about the attack, “After getting information about Azad’s program, we planned the attack and we also reached Deoband.” According to the police statement, Acting Director General of Police Vijay Kumar has given a reward of Rs 50,000 and a citation to the police team for disclosing the incident within 72 hours.
