New Delhi. Cheteshwar Pujara has returned to the home ground after being dropped from the Indian team. He has been decided to play for the West Zone team in the upcoming Duleep Trophy. He has agreed to play the tournament. Along with Pujara, another Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav will also be included in the West Zone team. The tournament will begin on June 28 from Bangalore.
Cheteshwar Pujara and Suryakumar Yadav have replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who have been selected for the Test tour of the West Indies. The West Zone selection committee, headed by Mumbai Cricket Association’s Sanjay Patel, informed the other members of the committee about his inclusion. Suryakumar Yadav was given a place in the Indian squad for the World Test Championship final as a standby.
Suryakumar Yadav is also included in the ODI team
Suryakumar Yadav has been included in India’s ODI squad for the West Indies tour. It is also speculated that he will feature in the subsequent five-match T20I series. However, the squad for that series is yet to be announced. By the time the ODI series in the West Indies begins on July 27, the Duleep Trophy will be completed on July 16.
Amol Majumdar offered the post of head coach
At the same time, Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has offered the post of its head coach to Amol Majumdar. However, the contract has not been finalised. BCA secretary Ajit Lele told Cricbuzz that an offer has been made to Amol Majumdar.
The BCA Cricket Advisory Committee (CIC), comprising former Baroda players Irfan Pathan, Kiran More, Satyajit Parad and Valmik Buch, has recommended Majumdar’s name for the head coach position. If he accepts the role, Majumdar will move from coaching one West Zone state to another.
