New Delhi. In the 55th match of IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals had to face defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings. Delhi’s batting order fell apart like a pack of cards in front of CSK bowlers and the team could manage only 140 runs losing 8 wickets. Delhi captain David Warner looked unhappy with the team’s performance and blamed the defeat on the batsmen.
Warner blamed the defeat on the batsmen
David Warner said after the defeat at the hands of Chennai, “We lost wickets in the very first over. Our opening combination was very important. We also lost one of our wickets as a runout. We gave our wickets as a gift. Created too much pressure. It was a chaseable target. We needed to play better in the first six overs. We failed to rotate the strike.”
The Delhi Capitals captain further said, “We needed to try different things, but we could not do that. If you get a wide half tracker ball, you cannot hit it straight to the covers. Should have been given proper advice.
Delhi’s batting order flopped
Chasing the target of 168 runs, the Delhi Capitals got off to a very bad start and captain David Warner walked on the second ball without opening the account. At the same time, Phil Salt also became the second victim of Deepak Chahar by scoring 17 runs. Mitchell Marsh was run out after scoring just 5 runs due to a blunder in coordination with Manish Pandey.
Riley Rossouw and Manish Pandey tried to build a partnership, but Pathirana removed Manish for 27 runs. Rossouw was also dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja after scoring 35 runs. In the last over, Akshar Patel scored 21 runs in 12 balls, but it was not enough to win the team.
