Shahjahanpur: In Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, a big upheaval has been seen in the municipal elections. Where Samajwadi Party’s declared candidate Archana Verma joined BJP on Sunday. Archana Verma was given the primary membership of the party by Deputy CM Brijesh Pathak wearing a patka. On this occasion, UP Finance Minister Suresh Khanna, Minister JPS Rathore and all the office bearers of the party were present. The family of Archana Verma, who joined BJP in the last minute giving a big blow to SP, was associated with Samajwadi Party for almost 30 years. Now with his joining BJP, SP may have to bear the brunt of this in the municipal elections. So there BJP is going to get its benefit.
Let us tell you that in the politics of Shahjahanpur district, the name of former minister late Rammurti Singh Verma, who is counted among the primary members of SP, is included in the big political houses. Since the formation of the Samajwadi Party till now, former minister late Ramamurthy Singh Verma was a two-time MP and four-time MLA, besides being a minister in the SP government, as well as a strong leader of the Lodh fraternity in the district. During his lifetime, his daughter-in-law Archana Verma, who has now joined the BJP, has also been the president of the District Panchayat.
BJP gave a big blow to Samajwadi Party
The family of Rammurti Singh Verma was politically known as the stronghold of the Samajwadi Party in the district. However, while breaking into the SP camp, the BJP has given a big blow to the SP by breaking this family dedicated to the Samajwadi Party for the last 30 years. However, in the municipal elections, after the conversion of Municipal Council Shahjahanpur into Municipal Corporation, the first election for the post of Mayor was a question of nose for the BJP, where the credibility of three ministers was at stake. BJP wanted to win this seat at any cost as Samajwadi Party had held this seat for the last 20 years.
While the present SP district president Tanveer Khan has been elected as the chairman of the Municipal Council from here. Now since 6 seats of all the assemblies are in BJP’s bag and all the posts including Rajya Sabha MP to present BJP MP Arun Sagar are with BJP. In such a situation, the BJP did not want to take any risk in the election of the first mayor, while under its well-thought-out strategy, it has now given a jolt to the SP.
