Kirawali (Agra). The inter-state gang was running the center for sex determination test in Abhuapura village, 25 km from the district headquarters. Pregnant women were being examined on Sunday with a portable ultrasound machine in the center running in a rented house. The SWAT team and the health department team raided and arrested four including the kingpin and the woman doing the ultrasound. Ultrasound machine has also been seized. The women who came for investigation are also being questioned.
Swat team got information
The SWAT team had received information about a gang conducting fetal sex tests at Mangeram’s house near Mansarovar Park in the village. At one o’clock in the afternoon, SWAT team in-charge Ajay Singh along with the Health Department team raided. There was a crowd of women outside the house. When the police team reached the room of the house, ultrasound of the pregnant woman was being done. At the same time, pregnant women were also waiting for their turn. The police arrested Vikramjeet, a resident of Kheda Jat, Sanju Bhardwaj, a resident of Jaupra in Sikandra, Narendra, a resident of Sunari and Sarita, a resident of Rambagh in Etmaddaula.
Took a house on rent for Rs 15,000
According to the police, the gang leader Vikramjeet had rented the entire house about six months back for Rs 15,000 per month. Sarita, a 10th pass ultrasound, used to do it. While Narendra used to bring pregnant women from Agra, Mathura as well as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana for sex test. Eight pregnant women were also found present when the raid was conducted. It has also been learned that by taking ultrasound machines, tests were also done in other villages. The women said that a fee of Rs 20,000 was charged for the test. Eight pregnant women found at the center are also being interrogated.
The SWAT team busted the sex determination racket in collaboration with the health department. The names of two doctors from Mathura and Morena have come to the fore in this gang.
