Shamli. On Sunday, the BJP released the list of councilor candidates in several districts including Shamli regarding the Uttar Pradesh Municipal Corporation elections. Not finding his name in the list, former member Deepak Saini swallowed poisonous substance. He was admitted to the hospital in Meerut in critical condition where he died late in the night. Deepak Saini, a resident of Shamli, was elected councilor last time on the symbol of BJP. This time he was preparing to contest the election from ward number three on the symbol of BJP.
On Sunday, the BJP released the first list of ward councillors, in which Deepak Saini was disappointed after not getting his name. He tried to contact senior party leaders and office bearers, but did not get satisfactory response from anywhere. Desperate, Deepak Saini swallowed poisonous substance in the evening, after which he fainted. When his condition worsened, his relatives took him to Shamli and later to Meerut.
He died late night during treatment in Meerut. BJP District President Satendra Tomar told that Deepak Saini was our very old and good worker. Information about his death has been received. He was to contest in ward three. The list was put on hold. There has been no discrimination at any level anywhere in the election ticket process.
Minister Nandi’s wife’s ticket cut in UP municipal elections
The BJP on Sunday announced the names of the mayor and councilor candidates of 10 municipal corporations for the first phase of the municipal elections in UP. Along with this, the party also announced the candidates for the post of president of 99 municipal councils for the first phase.
Monday is the last day for filing nominations for the first phase. Despite reservation remaining intact, the ticket of Abhilasha Gupta, wife of Prayagraj Mayor and Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, has been cut. The party has also refrained from giving Lucknow mayor Sanyukta Bhatia a second chance.
