Kanpur. A woman was dancing with a bottle of acid during Manjha (turmeric ceremony) late on Thursday night in Juhi Param Purwa. When the lid of the bottle got loose, acid splashed on the faces of two real sisters involved in the program and both of them got scorched. On hearing cries, people took him to LLR Hospital, from where his relatives were admitted to a private hospital in Lajpat Nagar on Friday. In the case, the police took four people including the woman to the outpost.
Juhi Parampurwa Chhoti Masjid resident Atiq Khamin’s daughter is to be married on November 27. On Thursday night, the program of Manjha (turmeric ceremony) was going on at his house, in which relatives and people of the locality were involved. Mubeena, wife of Atiq’s brother Anish Khan, was dancing in the dance program. Then she started dancing with the acid bottle kept in the verandah. People were watching their dance sitting on the ground in the tent outside the house.
Meanwhile, the lid of the bottle opened loosely and splashes of acid fell on the faces of 20-year-old Shaheen and 22-year-old Yasmeen and two-three other people of the locality. Both the sisters screamed. Relatives first took him to LLR Hospital, but due to non-availability of a burn unit there, he was admitted to a private hospital in Lajpat Nagar on Friday morning. Juhi police station in-charge Jitendra Singh told that this incident happened during the turmeric ceremony. Further action will be taken on receipt of Tahrir.
