The death of Mulayam Singh Yadav vacated Mainpuri Lok Sabha and the cancellation of membership of Azam Khan and Vikram Singh Saini vacated Rampur Vidhan Sabha and Khatauli Vidhan Sabha by-elections (UP BY Election A meeting of the BJP core committee was held at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s residence on Saturday to finalize the names of party candidates.
The details of the fixed names will be sent to Delhi today.
- In the meeting, there is a discussion to decide a panel of three names each for all the three seats. The panel of these names will be sent to Delhi on Sunday.
- According to party sources, in the meeting convened at the Chief Minister’s residence, it was decided to decide three names each for all the three seats and send the list to the central leadership.
- The names of Mamtesh Shakya, Raghuraj Shakya, Prempal Shakya and Pradeep Kumar were discussed for the Mainpuri seat. The party can field a Shakya candidate here.
- The names of Akash Saxena, Ajay Gupta and Bharat Bhushan Gupta were discussed on Mapur assembly seat.
- Similarly, the names of Rupendra Saini, Sudhir Saini, Pradeep Saini and Rajkumari Saini were also discussed for Khatauli seat.
- Rajkumari is the wife of Vikram Saini, who was the MLA from this seat. According to sources, the BJP’s Central Election Committee is expected to meet on November 13 or 14, in which the names of the candidates for all the three seats may be announced.
- The last date for nomination in Mainpuri and Khatauli bypolls is November 17, while in Rampur nomination papers will be filed till November 18. In such a situation, BJP candidates can file their nominations on 16 November.
CM Yogi was also present in the core committee meeting
Apart from Chief Minister Yogi, senior party leaders including Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, State President Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, Union Minister and UP in-charge Radha Mohan Singh were present in the BJP Core Committee meeting. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya is currently in Gujarat, so he could not attend the meeting. Voting will be held on these three seats on December 5. The counting of votes will take place on December 8.
