Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Conference 2022 (IDF World Dairy Summit 2022) held in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh today. PM Modi also addressed the guests who came here. This event has been organized at Greater Noida Expo Center and Mart, Greater Noida.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the World Dairy Conference said that he is happy that experts and innovators from the dairy sector from across the world have united in India. Initiating the address, PM Modi told all the guests that he warmly welcomes them on behalf of the animals and citizens of India and the Government of India. PM Modi said, “The potential of the dairy sector not only gives impetus to the rural economy, but it is also a major source of livelihood for crores of people across the world. I am sure that this summit will play a huge role in enhancing each other’s knowledge and learning from each other at the level of ideas, technology, expertise and traditions related to the dairy sector.
Small farmer power
While addressing the World Dairy Conference, PM Modi said, “Today’s event is being held at a time when India has completed 75 years of its independence. It is also a coincidence that from today’s event, more than 75 lakh dairy farmers of India have also joined us in this program through technology. The last mile beneficiary for such a summit is our farmer brothers and sisters. I also welcome, congratulate my farmer colleagues in the World Dairy Summit.
He further said, “Business related to livestock and milk has been an integral part of India’s thousands of years old culture. This heritage of ours has empowered the dairy sector of India with certain characteristics. Experts who have come from other countries in this summit , I would like to specially mention these characteristics before them. Unlike other developed countries of the world, the driving force of the dairy sector in India is small farmers. Today, there has been a 44 per cent increase in milk production compared to 2014.
Poor countries can learn
PM Modi further said, “India’s dairy sector has been identified more by mass production than by mass production. Most of the farmers associated with the dairy sector in India have either one animal, two or three cattle. Due to the hard work of these small farmers and their livestock, today India is the largest milk producing country in the whole world. Today this sector provides employment to more than eight crore families of India. The uniqueness of India’s dairy sector is rarely found anywhere else. I am also mentioning this in the World Dairy Summit today because it can become an excellent business model for farmers of many poor countries of the world.
