Lucknow. In Uttar Pradesh, the news of the resignation of the current President Swatantradev Singh went viral on Wednesday, amidst waiting for the new state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party. It is being said that he has secretly submitted his resignation letter to the central leadership.
Since there is no system in the BJP to resign on his behalf by the President, this news has gained momentum. The second reason is also that Swatantradev is the cabinet minister of the Jalshakti department in the Yogi Adityanath government and Dinesh Khatik, the minister of state of his department, had also created a sensation by offering his resignation recently.
In July, 2019, the party rewarded Swatantradev Singh for sweating it out in the organization. Under his leadership, the party registered a landslide victory in the Vidhansabha elections-2022 including the municipal, MLC elections. Giving the result of this, he was made the cabinet minister of Jal Shakti Department in Yogi Sarkar 2.0.
Since there is the principle of one person, one post in the BJP, it was decided only after Swatantradev was made a minister that now the responsibility of the state president would be handed over to someone else. Meanwhile, his three-year tenure full of achievements also ended on July 19. In such a situation, the state president is working with dual responsibility.
Here, the churning is also going on at the national level regarding the new state president in the party. At the same time, on Wednesday, this information became viral on the internet media that Swatantradev Singh had secretly submitted his resignation from the post of state president to national president JP Nadda by going to Delhi. Different discussions started regarding his resignation.
Some people also linked it to the recent developments of Minister of State for Jal Shakti Dinesh Khatik resigning and then withdrawing at the intervention of the party leadership. However, this is believed to be baseless because the resignation letter is about being given from the post of State President and not from the post of Jal Shakti Minister.
At the same time, senior party functionaries say that after the announcement of a new president in the BJP, the term of the current president automatically ends. There is no tradition in the party of the President resigning. It is a different situation whether someone is asked to resign or someone gives it in displeasure.
However, it has been decided that the party is going to meet the head of the state organization soon. An attempt was made to talk to Swatantradev in this regard, but he neither received the phone nor did he reply to the message sent on the mobile. State level leaders also refrained from commenting on it, far from confirming it.
Many contenders for the post of president: Many names are being discussed in the race for the post of BJP state president. Among them are the names of former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Dinesh Sharma, former Energy Minister Shrikant Sharma, Kannauj MP Subrata Pathak, Noida MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma and Aligarh MP Satish Gautam. Apart from MP BL Verma and Panchayati Raj Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary, the name of Deputy Chief Minister and former state president Keshav Prasad Maurya has come into the limelight. Depressed class MPs Dr. Ramshankar Katheria, Vidyasagar Sonkar and Laxman Acharya are being told in the race.
