New Delhi. The Indian team has achieved a 2-2 draw in the five-match T20I series against South Africa. In the fourth match played on Friday, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bowl first. India scored 169 for 6 on the back of Dinesh Karthik’s first T20 International half-century. In reply, the entire team of South Africa was reduced to just 87 runs in 16.5 overs. The decider of the series will now be played between the two teams on Sunday, June 19.
Dinesh Karthik scored 55 runs in this match, while Hardik Pandya’s innings of 46 runs was seen with the bat. Avesh Khan was the star in the bowling, who took 4 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs.
South Africa’s defeat
South Africa’s team got the first blow in the form of Quinton de Kock, chasing India’s target of 170 runs. After scoring 14 runs, he came back running out. Teba Babuma retired hurt and returned. Avesh Khan got Dwayne Pretorius caught behind the wicket by Rishabh Pant without opening the account. Yuzvendra Chahal got the team a big success by dismissing Heinrich Klaasen for 8 runs. Harshal Patel bowled the dangerous David Miller on the score of just 9 runs.
Avesh Khan gave the fifth blow to the South African team by catching Rasi van der Dussen, playing at the hands of Ruturaj, for 20 runs. Avesh sent Marco Yanson for 12 runs in the fourth ball of the 14th over while Keshav Maharaj was sent back without opening an account. Chahal got Enrich Narkhia caught by Ishan for 1 run.
Dinesh Karthik’s Fifty
After losing the toss, the Indian team did not start well and Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed by Lungi Engidi after scoring just 5 runs. Shreyas Iyer returns to lbw after scoring 4 runs off Marco Yanson. Ishan Kishan, playing on 27 runs, was caught by Anrich Narkhia behind the wicket by Quinton de Kock. Captain Rishabh Pant, after scoring just 17 runs, was caught by Keshav Maharaj on Pretorius.
Hardik Pandya held one end amidst the falling wickets. Together with Dinesh Karthik, he pushed the team’s score forward. After scoring 46 off 31 balls in the 19th over, he was caught by Shamsi off Engidi. Maintaining the form of IPL, Karthik scored his first fifty in T20 International.
South Africa’s veteran wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock has returned.
The first T20 match was played in Delhi in which India was defeated by South Africa by 7 wickets. In the second match, the Indian team had to face defeat by 4 wickets. The third match was in Visakhapatnam where India returned to the series after winning the match by 48 runs. Now the match is in Rajkot, which is expected to be exciting.
