Lucknow: After the violence in many districts including Prayagraj, Saharanpur, Hathras after Friday prayers in Uttar Pradesh, the government has become even more cautious this time. The government has given instructions to be vigilant across the state regarding Friday prayers on June 17.
The district and police administration have been asked to maintain peace and order at all costs. Senior officers have been put on duty at all sensitive places. Surveillance will be done here with CCTV cameras, video cameras and drones. In case of any untoward situation, the police have been instructed to deal strictly.
People of a particular religion are angry after the statement of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. The crowd gathered after the last Friday prayers had pelted stones at many places. Taking lessons from past experiences, the government is more cautious this time. On Thursday, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Avnish Kumar Awasthi and Director General of Police DS Chauhan conducted a thorough review of all the divisions, zones, ranges and districts through video conferencing at Yojna Bhawan.
He said that in case of any laxity, strict action would be taken against the concerned officer. It was told that the administrative and police officers have communicated with all the prominent religious leaders across the state and sought cooperation in maintaining peace. Peace Committee meetings have been organized at the police station level and the civil defense personnel have also been entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining peace and order.
The Additional Chief Secretary and DGP have given instructions to take strict vigil and deal strictly with any kind of unpleasant situation. In all the districts, instructions have been given by the police to conduct foot patrolling and flag marches of paramilitary forces. The officers of the district and police administration have also been expected to make arrangements for proper police management, taking lessons from past experiences. All senior administrative and police officers should visit sensitive areas and make necessary arrangements to maintain peace and order.
130 Company PAC and 10 Company RAF: Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Prashant Kumar said that 130 Company PAC and 10 Company Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been arranged for sensitive districts. Police have been deployed in sensitive areas and places of worship as part of the strategy. Police officials are in touch with the clerics and other group leaders to maintain peace and communal harmony.
Instructions to explain to the youth opposing Agneepath: Avnish Awasthi has also directed the district administration that the new scheme for recruitment in the army should be explained to the youth opposing Agneepath and made aware of the right facts and in any way. So they should not be allowed to spoil the atmosphere.
