New Delhi. Former Test captain of the England cricket team Joe Root’s bat is constantly making a ruckus. He has scored a century in the second consecutive match of the Test series being played against New Zealand. Batting first, New Zealand had scored 553 runs in the first innings. On the basis of Root’s century innings, England took the score beyond 400 runs.
The second match of the series is being played between New Zealand and England in the Nottingham Test. England won the toss and elected to bowl first in this match. Darrell Mitchell’s 190 and Tom Blundell’s 106 helped the team to score 553 runs. The hosts did not have a good start in the first innings in front of a big target but Root, along with Ollie Pope, took over the team. Pope was dismissed for 145 while he scored his second century in the series.
Root equals Kohli
The former England captain equaled Virat Kohli in Test cricket by scoring a century in the first innings of the Nottingham Test. This was the 27th century of his Test career and he has reached equal to India’s Kohli and Australia’s Steve Smith in terms of Test centuries.
Root in steamy form
Routes have been running in amazing form since 2021. He has so far scored 12 centuries in the last 42 Test innings. The amazing thing is that Smith and Virat Kohli have not been able to do much during this period. It has been more than two years since Kohli’s bat scored a century. Earlier, Root had also scored two consecutive centuries against West Indies. At the same time, when the Indian team went on a tour of England, in this series too, his bat scored two consecutive centuries in Nottingham and Lord’s.
