Lucknow. Shivpal Singh Yadav, president of Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia (PrSP) and elected MLA from Jaswantnagar seat on Samajwadi Party ticket, has requested to change his seat in the assembly. He has sent a letter to this effect to the Principal Secretary, Vidhan Sabha.
Due to the implementation of e-Vidhan in the Vidhan Sabha, each member has been allotted a seat in the Vidhan Sabha. Some members of the Samajwadi Party have also changed their seats. It is being told that some members of SP are still unhappy with the seating arrangement. He wants the front seat to sit on. It is believed that Shivpal does not want to sit with the SP members in the House.
Senior MLA Shivpal Singh Yadav has urged the Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly to change the seat allotted to him in the House. Shivpal Singh Yadav has written a letter to the principal secretary of the assembly requesting to change the seat. Shivpal Yadav is currently a Samajwadi Party MLA from Jaswantnagar Assembly Constituency in Etawah district.
Shivpal Yadav had formed his own separate party after a rift with his nephew and SP President Akhilesh Yadav, but before the 2022 assembly elections, the two leaders had reached an agreement. Shivpal had contested the assembly elections on the election symbol of SP.
Shivpal Yadav had objected to the remark of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, in which he had said that ‘whatever comes from the BJP will not remain in the SP’. Terming the remark as “irresponsible”, Shivpal had said, “If Akhilesh Yadav thinks so, he should throw me out of the legislature party soon.”
The rift between Shivpal and Akhilesh escalated when he did not invite his uncle to a meeting of newly elected SP MLAs held on March 26. Shivpal had skipped the opposition alliance meeting earlier this week. Shivpal took oath on March 31 and later reached the chief minister’s residence in Lucknow, fueling speculation that he would switch sides.
Praspa chief Shivpal Singh Yadav had indicated a growing friendship with the BJP a few months back when he started following Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Twitter after meeting Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
