New Delhi: In the 55th match of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings defeated Delhi’s team by a huge margin of 91 runs. Delhi had a target of 209 runs to win, but in front of the Chennai bowlers, the entire team of Delhi was all out after scoring only 117 runs. Moeen Ali dismissed 3 players for Chennai while Mukesh Chaudhary, Dwayne Bravo and Simarjit Singh dismissed 2 players each. Mitchell Marsh played the highest innings of 25 runs for Delhi. This defeat has dealt a blow to Delhi’s hopes of reaching the playoffs.
Earlier, Delhi captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and decided to bowl. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devan Conway opened the innings for Chennai and added 110 runs for the first wicket. Batting first, Chennai scored 208 runs for the loss of 6 wickets on the basis of Conway’s 87 and Gaikwad’s 41.
Delhi innings, Warner out cheaply
Chasing the target of 209 runs, David Warner and Srikar India started the innings for Delhi, but Bharat became the victim of Simarjit Singh after scoring 8 runs in the second over. But in the form of the second wicket, Delhi got a big blow in the form of Warner. He was dismissed lbw by Teeksha on the score of 19 runs. For the third wicket, Mitchell Marsh was caught by Gaikwad by Moeen Ali on a personal score of 25 runs. Delhi got the fourth blow in the form of Pant. He was bowled by Moeen Ali on a personal score of 21 runs. He also dismissed Ripple Patel in the same over. He played an innings of 6 runs. Two wickets for Delhi fell in the 11th over. First Akshar Patel scored 1 run then Delhi’s last hope Pavel got out after scoring 3 runs. Both were dismissed by Mukesh Chaudhary. The 8th blow came in the form of Kuldeep Yadav. Simarjit Singh got him caught by Uthappa on the personal score of 5 runs.
Chennai’s innings, Kanve’s half-century
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devan Kanve opened the innings for Chennai, both of whom put on 110 runs for the first wicket. Gaikwad was dismissed after scoring 41 runs. He was caught by Axar Patel by Nokia. The second blow came in the form of Conway. He played a brilliant innings of 87 runs, he was caught by Khaleel Ahmed at the hands of Pant. The third blow was felt in the form of Dubey. He was dismissed by Mitchell Marsh to Warner on a personal score of 32 runs. For the fourth wicket, Rayudu was dismissed by Khaleel Ahmed for a personal score of 5 runs. Chennai lost two wickets in the last over. First Moeen Ali and then Robin Uthappa were dismissed by Nokia.
Two changes in Delhi while two changes in Chennai
In Chennai, Shivam Dubey has got a chance in place of Ravindra Jadeja, while the Delhi team has come with two changes. KS Bharat and Akshar Patel have returned in place of Lalit Yadav and Mandeep Singh.
