Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that every work related to flood control should be completed by June 15 in any case. In flood rescue, officers of every level of the department should come to the field and go to the spot. Drone videos and photos etc. of workplaces should be made available within a week.
Transparency should be maintained in auction of sand from dredging of rivers. This sand and silt should be removed from there by June 15. Physical verification of sand auction work should also be done. In the review meeting of flood projects at Lok Bhavan on Monday, the Chief Minister said that the work of repair of embankments should be given top priority.
Reserve stock should be arranged at very sensitive and sensitive places soon. The most sensitive and sensitive places coming under the grip of river current should be identified and other works of their repair and protection should be completed by 31st May in any case. There is a need to accelerate the work of channelization of rivers. This work has not yet gained momentum. Special attention should be paid to this.
The Chief Minister said that there should be complete transparency while selecting the agency for contracts and tenders in the projects. In any department, work should not be done by the firms of mafia or people associated with it. If this is found then accountability will be fixed at every level in the department. He said that the proceedings of the steering group to deal with the floods under the chairmanship of the district magistrates should be completed within this month itself.
For flood protection, flood protection committees should be formed in the areas by the district administration and the department by June 15. Divisional and district level nodal officers for inter-departmental flood coordination and nodal officers for international and inter-state flood problems should be nominated. He said that in the last five years, efforts have been made for a permanent solution to the problem of floods which has been a factor for decades to cause extensive loss of life and property in the state.
Since 2017-18, 699 flood projects have been completed. As per the advice of experts, the government has been successful in minimizing the risk of floods by using the latest technology. Presently, out of 225 projects related to flood control, work has started on 216. It has nine dredging projects.
Quality and timeliness should be taken care of in all projects. Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary Chief Minister SP Goyal, Principal Secretary Chief Minister and Information Sanjay Prasad, Principal Secretary Irrigation Anil Garg, Additional Director of Information Anshuman Ram Tripathi and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
