Prayagraj. Two policemen were overwhelmed by waving an illegal pistol in a moving car while intoxicated. On the information of passers-by, Ghurpur police arrested constable Kushal Dwivedi, Abdul Arif Siddiqui and driver Mohsin Siddiqui. Car and illegal pistol were recovered from their possession. The SSP suspended both the constables, then all three of them were sent to jail.
The ASP had nabbed the three including the soldiers in the car by making a blockade.
This senseless act of the policemen was exposed by ASP Chirag Jain. The in-charge of Chirag Ghurpur police station is the station head. Abdul Arif, a resident of New Colony Jwalaganj, located in Kotwali police station area of Fatehpur district, is a 2001 batch constable. While Kushal Dwivedi is a resident of Motiyari police station Naraini district Banda. Both were posted in Prayagraj city Kotwali police station. Shahganj lived in a barrack above the police station. Both the constables were going in his car with Mohsin Siddiqui, a resident of South Malaka, on Wednesday night. When passersby saw the soldiers waving pistols on the way, they informed the police. Within a short time, ASP Chirag Jain started checking by putting up barricades outside Ghurpur police station and then caught the three including the constable in the car.
A pistol was found from the car during the search. The ASP told that the constables were intoxicated. During interrogation, it was told that all three of them were going to Mahoba in a car to see Kushal’s ailing mother. Abdul was absent from the police station, while Kushal had left after finishing his duty. But could not give satisfactory answer about illegal pistol. When the SSP got the information, he directed strict action. Then a case was registered against the three under the Arms Act and arrested. He was sent to jail after being produced in the court on Thursday evening. SSP Ajay Kumar says that both the constables have been suspended with immediate effect. Policemen with criminal tendencies, those in connivance with criminals will not be spared under any circumstances.
