New Delhi. Mumbai Indians faced Punjab Kings in the 23rd match of the 15th season of the Indian Premier League. In this match at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first. On the basis of opener Shikhar Dhawan’s blazing 70 and captain Mayank’s stormy 52, the team scored 198 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Mumbai’s team could only score 186 runs. This is the team’s fifth consecutive defeat in the tournament. Till now Rohit Sharma’s team is waiting for the first win.
Mumbai’s fifth consecutive defeat
Chasing the big target of 199 runs, Mumbai got the first blow in the form of captain Rohit Sharma. After scoring 28 runs, he was caught by Vaibhav Arora off Kagiso Rabada. Just after this, Ishan Kishan just lost his wicket on the score of 3 runs. After the fall of two wickets, Dewald Brevis and Tilak Verma took over the innings. Both of them took the score beyond 100 runs in 10 overs by raining runs. Arshdeep, who reached 49 runs in just 25 balls with 5 sixes and 4 fours, was caught by Arshdeep on the ball of Odin Smith.
Tilak Verma, who looked in good shape, was forced to return after scoring 36 runs. The experienced Kieron Pollard returned after being run out for stealing runs on miss fielding. After this Suryakumar Yadav kept the team in the match by putting some good shots. But for 43, Rabada got him caught by Smith and gave a big success to Punjab. After this the lower order batsmen kept trying to get close to the score but the team could not win even after reaching close.

Big score for Punjab, Fifty of Dhawan-Mayank
Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal started Punjab’s innings with a bang and added 53 runs in 5 overs. By the end of the powerplay game, the duo put on a total of 65 runs. Mayank scored 38 off 21 balls and Dhawan scored 18 runs off 15 balls. Batting with a bang, captain Mayank completed his fifty in just 30 balls, hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes. He returned after getting out on the catch of Suryakumar off Murugan Ashwin after playing an innings of 52 runs off 32 balls.
Jani Bairstow became the victim of Jaydev Unadkat after scoring 12 runs. Immediately after this, Jasprit Bumrah, who was running in top form, was dismissed for 2 runs by Jasprit Bumrah. In the end, Jatin Sharma played an innings of 30 runs in 15 balls to take the team’s score to 198 runs.
Mumbai team has made one change in the playing XI. Timal Mills has been replaced in place of Ramandeep. Punjab team has landed without any change.
