Lucknow. The process of smuggling gold continues at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. The Customs team this time arrested the passenger with 27 gold biscuits weighing three kilograms brought from Muscat. After questioning the passenger, the driver of the Air India bus involved in the game was also arrested.
This is the whole matter: Flight OV-797 from Muscat reached Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at around 3 pm. The customs department team was alert here. Customs team suspected a passenger. A handbag which was with the passenger was searched. In which 27 gold biscuits packed with red and black color tapes were recovered. Custom’s team weighed him. The weight of all 27 gold biscuits turned out to be 3149.280 grams. Whose price is about 1.68 crores.
When the passenger who brought the gold was questioned, he told that he had to give this gold to the bus driver of Air India. The bus driver would hand over this gold to a smuggler outside the airport. The Customs team arrested the driver along with the passenger and handed over to the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Economic Affairs.
Smugglers have been caught earlier also: On April 9, gold worth Rs 11 lakh, brought hidden in a bracelet, was caught at Lucknow airport. Whereas on April 4, gold worth Rs 15 lakh was brought from Sharjah by a traveler hiding it between his hair and wig. On April 3, during the investigation from Dubai, the Customs team had caught an army of 24 lakh rupees from a passenger. In February and March also, smuggled gold brought from Gulf countries has been recovered. Customs team has increased vigilance at the airport.
