New Delhi. Backward Pakistan made a strong comeback after losing the first ODI of three matches against Australia. In the second ODI played on Thursday, the hosts registered their biggest win in ODI history. Batting first, Australia made a huge total of 348 runs for 8 wickets. Pakistan scored 352 runs for 4 wickets in 49 overs on the basis of centuries from Imam-ul-Haq and captain Babar Azam. With this win, the team also secured a 1-1 draw in the series.
Pakistan captain Babar won the toss and elected to bowl first in the second ODI against Australia. Australia had a poor start and captain Aaron Finch returned without opening an account. After this, Travis Head and Ben McDermott made strong batting, laying the foundation for the team’s big score. Head was dismissed for 89 while Ben played an inning of 104. Marnus Labuschagne made 59 while Marcus Stoinis scored 49 runs.
Two world records made by Pakistan
Opener Iman scored a powerful century in the second ODI against Australia while batting brilliantly. This was the ninth century of his ODI career which came in the 48th innings. With this, Imam broke South African legend Hashim Amla’s record of scoring 9 ODI centuries in the lowest innings. Imam was dismissed after playing an innings of 106 runs off 97 balls with the help of 6 fours and 3 sixes.
Pakistan captain Babar scored 114 runs in this match and scored the 15th ODI century of his career. On the basis of this century, he became the batsman to do so in the shortest innings. Babar achieved this position in the 83rd innings and took Amla’s world record of 15 ODI centuries in 86 innings.
Pakistan’s biggest win
Chasing 348 against Australia on Thursday, Pakistan registered their biggest win while chasing. Earlier, Pakistan’s team won against Bangladesh in 2014 by chasing 329 runs. Pakistan’s chase of 322 runs against India in Mohali in 2007 is their third biggest win.
