New Delhi. Virat Kohli’s form is under question. In such a situation, former veteran cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has come to his rescue before the third ODI against West Indies. He said that his form is not bad. Luck is not favoring them. After the tour of South Africa, former India captain Kohli has failed to do well in the three-match ODI series against the West Indies led by Kieron Pollard.
Kohli performed poorly in the first and second ODIs against West Indies. After scoring 8 runs in 4 balls in the first match, the 33-year-old cricketer could only manage 18 runs in 30 balls in the second ODI. In such a situation, Gavaskar has defended the former Indian captain. Talking to Star Sports ahead of the third ODI between West Indies and India, he said, “Kohli needs a little luck to score runs. Every batsman needs a little luck. Every batsman needs a position where he plays and the ball misses to take the edge of the bat. The ball takes the edge of the bat and the catch is missed or it falls ahead of the fielder.
Sunil Gavaskar also reminded Kohli’s critics that the former captain had scored two half-centuries in the tour of South Africa. Gavaskar said, ‘They have not had good luck in the last several matches. Don’t forget he scored a half-century in South Africa. It is worth mentioning that Kohli has failed to score a century in international cricket since 2019. He has scored 142 runs in his last 5 ODIs for India. Talking about the ODI series against the Windies, the team led by Rohit Sharma is leading 2-0. The last ODI match of the series will be played today.
