After the announcement of the candidates of the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Tuesday afternoon, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released the list of 17 more candidates in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, as well as all the speculation about the nine assembly seats in Lucknow. paused. In the fight between husband and wife, where Swati Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Women’s Welfare has been denied ticket from Sarojininagar, the party has not given the Speaker Hridaynarayan Dixit a chance to contest from Bhagwantnagar again due to old age. Exuding confidence in Ministers Ashutosh Tandon Gopal and Chandrika Prasad Upadhyay, the party has decided to field both of them from their old seats. Ashutosh is the MLA from Lucknow East and Chandrika from Chitrakoot. The ticket of MLA Suresh Tiwari from Lucknow Cantt and Avinash Trivedi from Bakshi Ka Talab has been disconnected. Defections have also been given place in the list of 17 candidates.
The couple has finally suffered due to the ongoing tussle between minister Swati in the Yogi government and her husband, BJP’s state vice president Dayashankar Singh. Both Swati and Dayashankar were making their claim from Sarojininagar seat. Recently, an audio of Swati also went viral, in which the sourness in the relationship between the couple had come to the fore. Since then there was talk of cutting Swati’s ticket. Taking the whole matter seriously, the party finally decided not to give ticket to either of them. Rajeshwar Singh, who took VRS from the post of Joint Director of ED Lucknow a day earlier, has been nominated by BJP from Sarojininagar seat.
The party has now decided to field Law Minister Brajesh Pathak from the famous Cantt seat of Lucknow. Brajesh is currently an MLA from Lucknow Central. With the announcement of Brajesh, the discussions regarding the candidature of Mayank Joshi, son of BJP MP Dr. Rita Bahuguna Joshi from Cantt seat and Aparna Yadav, younger daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh, who left the SP and joined the Bhagwa Dal, also ended. Before becoming an MP, Rita Joshi was an MLA from this seat. The party has cut the ticket of Suresh Tiwari, who became MLA from Cantt seat in the by-election. Now vice-president Rajneesh Gupta has been made candidate in the municipal corporation from Lucknow Central seat.
After cutting the ticket of Bakshi Ka Talab MLA Avinash, the party has nominated its old worker Yogesh Shukla as its candidate. Anjani Srivastava has been given ticket from Lucknow West due to the death of MLA Suresh Srivastava. Anjani is the Mandal President of BJP. Jaya Devi, the MLA wife of Union Minister Kaushal Kishor, has again been fielded from Malihabad.
Ashutosh Shukla has been made a candidate from Bhagwantnagar, the seat of Hriday Narayan Dixit. Shukla’s wife has contested from this seat in the year 2012. The defected Manish Rawat has been fielded by the BJP from Sidhauli reserved seat and Chandraprakash Mishra Matiyari from Gauriganj. In the last election, the BJP has given ticket to Rajendra Patel from the Jehanabad seat, which was held by Apna Dal. BJP has given ticket to its state general secretary and in-charge of Awadh region Amarpal Maurya from Unchahar. However, the BJP had taken an in-principle decision not to field any office-bearer as of now. The party has now given ticket to Rakesh Rathore Guru from this seat after the MLA from Sitapur, Rakesh Rathore, left the BJP and joined the SP.
