Former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leaders Lalji Verma and Ram Achal Rajbhar have announced to join the Samajwadi Party (SP) during the rally to be held in Ambedkar Nagar on November 7. Verma and Rajbhar were expelled from the party by BSP chief Mayawati on June 3 last for their involvement in anti-party activities during the panchayat elections.
Talking to reporters in the presence of party president Akhilesh Yadav at the SP state headquarters, Lalji Verma said, “We have come here to invite the SP president for the ‘Satta Parivartan Mandate Rally’ to be held in Ambedkar Nagar on November 7. In this rally, we along with our supporters will formally join the SP. Lalji Verma is MLA from Katehri seat of Ambedkarnagar and Ram Achal Rajbhar from Akbarpur seat. Both these leaders were once considered very close to BSP chief Mayawati. Rajbhar was the state president of the BSP and Verma was the leader of the BSP legislature party in the state assembly. Both of them have also been cabinet ministers in the BSP government from 2007 to 2012.
Lalji Verma told reporters, I was in BSP for the last 25 years and Ram Achal Rajbhar for 35 years. Both of us were dedicated BSP workers but we were expelled from the party on June 3. At that time I was battling Kovid-19 infection and could not fully recover. Lalji Verma said that the people of Uttar Pradesh are fed up with the misrule of the BJP and the only option is SP in the state. Welcoming Verma and Rajbhar on this occasion, SP President Akhilesh Yadav said that the caravan of SP is increasing day by day.
