The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) will organize a ‘Rail Roko’ movement on Monday demanding the dismissal and arrest of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra in the Lakhimpur violence case. This demonstration will be for 6 hours from 10 am to 4 pm across the country. During this, the protesters will stop the trains. Morcha said- ‘SKM calls upon all its constituents to stop the train for 6 hours on 18th October. It appeals that the agitation should be peaceful and without causing any damage to railway property.
In fact, SKM, a joint forum of various farmers’ organizations, has been opposing the three agricultural laws of the central government for a year. In a statement on Sunday, he said- “Till the time justice is not done in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, the demonstration will intensify.” The Morcha has announced a nationwide Rail Roko program demanding the arrest and dismissal of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra.
Rail traffic will be stopped, road will not…
Earlier, the Morcha reviewed the preparations on Sunday to make the Rail Roko Andolan a success. During this it was clearly stated that the road will not be obstructed. Only the program to stop the train will remain. Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Ratan Mann said that for this the duty of workers has been imposed in all the districts. Rakesh Bains said that all preparations have been made for Rail Roko Andolan.
Highways were jammed with trains last time
Essential and emergency services will not be disrupted in any way during the shutdown. When farmers had called for Bharat Bandh last time, trains were stopped and highways were blocked in many places including Punjab, Haryana, Bihar. Due to the highway jam, the problem of heavy traffic was also revealed in many places including Delhi, Noida, Gurugram. Railways had canceled more than a dozen trains.
Difficult to get justice without minister’s resignation
SKM says that justice is not expected in this case due to Ajay Mishra being on the post of minister. It is not only because his son Ashish Mishra is the main accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri murder case. Reports indicate that eyewitnesses are under pressure not to testify and not to record their statements. His party colleagues in the BJP are claiming that he was the architect of the entire development.
Lakhs of people are welcoming martyr Kalash Yatras
SKM said that Shaheed Kalash Yatras are being taken out on various routes in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and other states with the ashes of martyr farmers of Lakhimpur Kheri. A large number of farmers and common people are gathering to welcome the Yatras.
8 including 4 farmers died in Lakhimpur Kheri
Violence broke out on October 3 in Tikoniya area of Lakhimpur Kheri in UP. Here 8 people including 4 farmers died and many others were injured. It is alleged that the jeep of BJP workers, who were going to a program to welcome UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, crushed the farmers walking on the road from behind, in which 4 farmers died. Many got injured. After this violence broke out and the mob killed the driver of the car, two BJP workers. A journalist was also killed in this. Apart from this, two cars were set on fire. A murder case was registered against Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra and others in the case. Ashish was arrested by the police and sent to jail.
