Sharjah. Glenn Maxwell and his Australian teammate Dan Christian and his pregnant partner Georgia Dunn have faced online abuse after RCB were ruled out of the IPL title race. Enraged by the abuse, Maxwell called the online trolls “trash and disgusting”, while Christian requested that his partner be left out.
Maxwell wrote on his Twitter handle, “Great season for RCB, unfortunately we didn’t get to where we thought we were. That doesn’t detract from our achievement of this wonderful season. The rubbish that is pouring in on the internet media He is full of hatred. We are also human beings who are giving our best every day. Instead of abusing anyone, try to be a decent human being.”
Maxwell’s statement came after RCB were knocked out of the T20 league after losing to KKR by four wickets at the Eliminator here on Monday night. The star Australian all-rounder thanked the real fans for the love and support to RCB during this season. He wrote, “Thank you to the real fans who admired and loved the players who gave the game their all. Unfortunately there are some bad guys out there (on the online platform) who make internet media a bad place. Unacceptable. Please don’t be like them.”
Maxwell’s Australian teammate Christian also alleged that his pregnant partner Georgia Dunn was subjected to abuse on the Internet media following RCB’s poor performance. Christian spent 29 runs in 1.4 overs in this match, while contributing just nine runs with the bat. He wrote on Instagram, “Look at the comment (reaction) to my partner’s Instagram post. Today was not a good match for me, but it is part of the game. Please keep him out of all this.”
