Earlier, on October 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched ‘Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0’ and ‘Amrit 2.0’. During this, he said, Babasaheb used to believe in urban development as a great means of removing inequality. Many people from villages come to cities in the aspiration of a better life. Their standard of living remains in difficult condition even in villages. This is like a double whammy on them. One, away from home, and living in such a situation from above. On changing this situation, Babasaheb had a great emphasis on removing this inequality. The next phase of Swachh Bharat Mission and Mission Amrit is also an important step towards fulfilling the dreams of Babasaheb.
The second phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban Mission and Atal Mission for Renewal and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) have been prepared to realize the aspiration of making all the cities of the country ‘waste free’ and ‘water safe’. The second phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (CBM-U) aims to improve facilities and allow municipal bodies to increase the processing of solid waste from the current 70 per cent to 100 per cent. Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Minister of State as well as Urban Development Ministers of other states were also present in this program.
