Farmers’ organizations opposing the three agricultural laws of the central government have called a Bharat Band on Monday (27 September). The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) appealed for complete peace during the bandh and urged all Indians to join the strike. Opposition parties including Congress, Aam Aadmi Party have supported the Bharat Bandh called for ten hours. The United Kisan Morcha, which includes about 40 farmer organizations, also issued a statement on Sunday regarding the Bharat Bandh.
The SKM said, “On September 27, 2020, President Ram Nath Kovind approved and implemented three anti-farmer black laws. Bharat Bandh will be observed across the country on Monday from 6 am to 4 pm. are.”
Which parties supported Bharat Bandh?
Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Samajwadi Party, TDP, BSP, Left Dal, Swaraj India etc. have supported the Bharat Bandh called on Monday. Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal said, “Bharat bandh called by farmers’ organizations is fully supported by Congress and its workers.”
“We believe in the rights of our farmers and we will stand by them in their fight against black agricultural laws,” he tweeted. BSP supremo Mayawati said in a tweet that the farmers of the country, who disagree with the three agricultural laws made hastily by the Center and are unhappy for their return, have been agitated in the whole country and especially in the states around Delhi for almost 10 months and on Monday. Have called for ‘Bharat Bandh’, whose peaceful organization has the support of the BSP.
Delhi Police on alert
Delhi Police has put 15 district police on alert after the announcement of Bharat Bandh. Heavy police force and paramilitary force will be deployed in the areas of Delhi’s border, New Delhi and around the Red Fort. The arrangement of Delhi Police will be from 5 am till evening till the protest is over. Delhi Police Special Branch has received such inputs that farmers, political parties and students can forcibly enter Delhi by breaking police barricades from the Delhi border.
Delhi Metro and Rail can be disturbed. Metro DCP says that CISF, DMRC will be on alert along with Delhi Police at the metro station in the border area and the metro station coming in the New Delhi area. The special branch has also received inputs that the busy market can be forcibly closed. They can also be harmed. Anti-social elements can also take advantage of this among the protesters.

There are also inputs that protesters can protest by burning black flags and effigies outside PM House, HM House, houses of BJP MPs in New Delhi area. Protesters can gather at Ramlila Ground, Kisan Ghat, Raj Ghat, Red Fort. Water cannons, barricades, and anti-riot equipment have also been put on alert in all areas of Delhi to deal with the protesters. All the SHOs have been instructed that if needed, if any suspect or mob demonstrates, then they can be taken into custody. Also, from morning itself, they will be on patrolling.
Route was diverted in Ghaziabad
In view of the announcement of the closure of the Kisan Union in Ghaziabad, the police have ordered to divert the route on many main roads and intersections including Peripheral, Hapur Chungi, UP Gate, Ghazipur Border. Under this, the police has also issued advisory. Apart from this, the Haryana government has also become active in view of the Bharat Bandh. Dr Yash Garg, District Collector of Gurugram has been appointed as Duty Magistrate.
Farmer’s movement is going on for the last ten months
Farmers’ agitation has been going on for the last ten months at various borders in Delhi against the three agricultural laws. Farmers of Punjab, Western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana etc. are demanding the government to repeal agricultural laws and enact a law on MSP.
There have been many rounds of talks between the farmers and the government, but after the violent incident in Delhi on 26 January, this conversation stopped. The government is ready to amend the laws. Farmers’ organizations keep intensifying the movement from time to time. Meanwhile, farmer leaders are also organizing mahapanchayats. In the election states, farmer leaders are appealing to the people to vote against the BJP.
Channi also supported the new Chief Minister of Punjab
The new Chief Minister of Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi has also supported the Bharat Bandh. SKM has said in its statement that Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Congress and RJD also have support in Jharkhand. At the same time, DMK has also supported in Tamil Nadu. The farmers’ organization said that a rally would be organized at Jantar Mantar at 11 am. The SKM said, “At times associations and local units of the All India Lawyers Union have also supported the Bharat Bandh.”
