Indian Premier League: In the 35th match of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets. Captain Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal’s half-century innings led the team to score 156 runs for 6 wickets. In reply, Chennai team won the target in 18.1 overs at the loss of 4 wickets. After the match, Kohli regretted the fact that the team had made a good start by making a good start and then let everything go out of hand. Such things are no longer acceptable to them and it has to be rectified.
After the match, captain Kohli said, “This is happening continuously with our team and we have to improve this thing. We were doing well and were at a point of time then let everything go, we don’t accept such things. The wicket slowed down a bit later but I think our team fell 15-20 runs short. The target of 175 would have been a win-win. We didn’t even bowl consistently in good positions. I think so It is that we did not show that much courage in bowling. Chennai team bowled very well at the end of the innings. They used the slow ball well and the yorker used a lot of the same.
“We talked about which are the areas where the batsmen don’t want to kill and our bowlers haven’t been able to do it properly. In the last 5 to 6 overs, that’s what seems to be an X factor. Didn’t come. We have to do well from the back then only the team will be able to win. We have to perform more and more boldly in difficult moments of need. This tournament is going very fast.”
