Prayagraj. President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday called for increasing women’s participation in the judicial system at the historic 150-year-old Allahabad High Court, India’s fourth and country’s largest, in Prayagraj. Hope that we will be successful in ensuring access to justice to all. Laying the foundation stone for the work of multi-level parking, Advocates Chamber in Asia’s largest High Court with Chief Justice NV Ramana, Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the President said that the first women lawyers in the country had become here in 1931.
The President mentioned the appointment of three women judges in the Supreme Court
Referring to the appointment of three women judges to the Supreme Court last month, the President said that the establishment of a just society would be ensured only by the participation of women. At present, the participation of women in the judiciary is only 12 percent. He said that we have to increase the belief that justice is within the reach of all. Expressed confidence that the UP National Law University to be built in Jhalwa would become a center of world class legal education. The students coming out from here will become the carriers of just socio-economic development. The university will also be helpful in the direction of becoming a knowledge super power. There could not have been a better place for this university than Prayagraj.
Swami Vivekananda mentioned
The President also mentioned Swami Vivekananda’s address in Chicago in his 15-minute speech. It is said that on this day 128 years ago Swami Vivekananda had hailed India. Had the world accepted the essence of his address, perhaps 9/11 would not have happened in America. The President said that the Indian judiciary and the central and state governments are working together. He also mentioned advocates like Madan Mohan Malviya, Motilal Nehru, Tej Bahadur Sapru and Kailash Nath Katju.
Law University will prove to be a milestone: Governor Anandi Ben
Earlier, UP Governor Anandiben Patel told the historical mythological background of Kumbh city and expressed hope that Law University would prove to be a milestone. Termed it necessary for the quality of legal education and expressed hope that educated youth from here would be able to get justice.
Committed to providing cheap and easy justice to the common man: CJI
Supreme Court Chief Justice NV Ramanna started the address in Hindi but then spoke in English. Told his arrival in the city of Kumbh as a matter of pride for himself. It is said that Mahatma Gandhi had started a peaceful war against the British rule from this land. We are committed to provide cheap and easy justice to the common man. The history of Allahabad High Court is 150 years old. The judge here Jagmohan Lal Sinha had given the decision to annul the election of Indira Gandhi. Sachchidanand Sinha, Motilal Nehru, Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya and Jagmohan Lal Sinha were also mentioned by the CJI in his address.
La University should be named after the first President: CM Yogi
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had said that the works for which the foundation stone is being laid were pending for a long time. When there was a campaign to develop infrastructure in Kumbh, there was cooperation from the High Court. People couldn’t stop. He suggested to name the Law University after the first President of the country, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Said that he had an intimate relationship with the city of Sangam. He visited every Kumbh during his lifetime. The Law Minister described Prayagraj as a historical city. Also assured all possible help from the Government of India to strengthen the judiciary. Said that whatever resources have to be provided to help the judiciary, lower judiciary, we will do that. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to this. Chief Acting Justice MN Bhandari delivered the welcome address. Among the presiding guests were Justice Vineet Saran, Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Justice Krishnamurari, Justice Vikramnath. The program started with the lighting of the lamp followed by the national anthem.
President arrives to meet former Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi
The President reached his house to meet Keshari Nath Tripathi, former Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh and former Governor of West Bengal. After the program was over in the High Court, the President visited his residence and interacted. After this he reached Air Force Station Bamrauli by helicopter and from there left for Delhi in a plane.
President’s program for six hours in Prayagraj
President Ram Nath Kovind stayed in Sangamnagari for nearly six hours on Saturday. Apart from laying the foundation stone for the multi-level parking, Advocate Chamber in the premises of the historic Allahabad High Court, he also laid the foundation stone of the National Law University to be built at Jhalwa. Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Justice NV Ramana, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju and Governor Anandiben Patel, besides Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present in the event.
Unveiling of Oil Painting of Senior Advocate
The President unveiled an oil painting of Senior High Court Advocate AB Saran. During this, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court along with other dignitaries were present. The President reached the venue of the High Court from the Circuit House. He was accompanied by the Chief Justice of India. The President inaugurated by lighting the lamp at the venue.
The President’s convoy reached the venue of the High Court event from the Circuit House. The President’s convoy entered the High Court from the main gate number three of the High Court. During this, vehicles have been stopped on the way and there was a strong arrangement of police. Police personnel were stationed everywhere.
The President was accorded a grand welcome at Bamrauli Airport in Prayagraj. Apart from the army officers, he was received by the Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Prayagraj Mayor Abhilasha Gupta Nandi.
Prayagraj Mayor Abhilasha Gupta Nandi presented city keys to President Ram Nath Kovind at the airport in the morning. After this the President, Governor and Chief Minister reached the Polo Ground near the High Court by helicopter. From there we reached Circuit House.
