New Delhi. The 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman in the months of October and November this year. There will be a competition to capture the coveted trophy once again. The Indian cricket team is being considered as one of the strong contenders to win the T20 World Cup title this year. Although the team has not been selected yet, but before this, former India captain and veteran batsman Sunil Gavaskar has selected his Indian team for this important tournament.
Sunil Gavaskar dropped veteran left-handed opener Shikhar Dhawan from the team and said that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will open the batting. Gavaskar then selected three players from Mumbai Indians in his team. While Suryakumar Yadav will occupy the number 3 spot according to Gavaskar, the Pandya brothers, Hardik and Kunal will occupy the middle order. Gavaskar has also explained why Krunal Pandya should join the Indian team. They haven’t even picked Shreyas Iyer.
In fact, Sunil Gavaskar while talking on a sports YouTube channel said, “Krunal Pandya is an all-rounder, a very experienced player. He has done very well in IPL for the last many years, so he is definitely in for a place. He deserves it. He is left-handed, which is also an advantage.” Along with this, he has also kept right-handed batsman Shreyas Iyer out of the team, as he was still injured. However, Gavaskar has included two all-rounders in his team, which will be Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar.
Gavaskar has picked 5 fast bowlers in his team and he wants to go into the tournament along with Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar and Mohammed Shami. Yuzvendra Chahal is the only specialist spinner to make it to Gavaskar’s team. India will play its first match of the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup against arch-rivals Pakistan in Dubai on 24 October 2021. The fans of both the sides are already eagerly waiting for this match.
