Gorakhpur. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced to organize a players’ Kumbh on August 19 at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. In this Khiladi Kumbh, the government will reward and honor all the medalists of Tokyo Olympics as well as all the participants as encouragement. Sports coaches will also be honored at the event. Along with this, 75-75 players from all 75 districts of the state will also be specially invited. The Chief Minister has said that the government is with the players with all its resources. Wherever and whatever kind of resources and incentives are required, the government will provide.
Chief Minister Yogi was addressing the honor ceremony of the players organized under the joint aegis of the temple and Purvanchal Khel Vikas Manch at Brahmalin Mahant Digvijaynath Memorial Auditorium of Gorakhnath temple on Friday.
He said that due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India’s largest sports contingent participated in the Tokyo Olympics so far and gave the best performance by showcasing their talent even in the adverse conditions of the Corona period. This time the Indian contingent gave the best performance in the Olympics so far. The Chief Minister praised PM Modi’s Khelo India campaign for the promotion of sports in the country and appealed to the public representatives, entrepreneurs and all the people of the society to come forward for the encouragement of sportspersons.
Yogi said that the UP government will give an amount of two crore rupees to the gold medalist in the Olympics for the country. One and a half crore rupees will be given to silver medal winners, one crore rupees will be given to bronze medal winners. One crore rupees each will be given to all the members of the men’s hockey team that won the bronze medal and Rs 50 lakh each to the members of the women’s hockey team who performed the best ever. A separate amount will also be given to all the players of the state involved in the Olympics as a mark of respect. This event to honor the players will be held on August 19 at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. The Chief Minister said that with the formation of the government in 2017, we had decided to give 6 crores to the players of UP for winning gold medals, 3 crores for winning silver and Rs 1 crore for winning bronze medals in Olympics. Provision was made to give money to the participants. Arrangements were also made to award funds for Asiad and Commonwealth Games.
On the request of some players to resume the training of sports, CM Yogi said that the government is going to resume the training of sports soon. Orders have been placed for this. Along with this, sports coaches will be reinstated on good honorarium. He said that one has to find a way out of the challenge, one has to find the opportunity to excel in the disaster itself and the players are all examples of this.
As a special guest in the program, the Vice Chancellor of Guru Gorakshanath University, Major General Dr. Atul Bajpai, former Hockey Olympian, Arjuna Awardee and Rani Laxmibai Awardee Premaya, Rani Laxmibai Awardee, former Hockey International, Olympian Ranjana Srivastava, Hockey International player Olympian Preeti Dubey was in attendance. These three international women hockey players were honored by the Chief Minister by providing them angavastras. The welcome address at the function was delivered by Dinesh Singh, international wrestler and president of Purvanchal Khel Vikas Manch. In the ceremony, the Chief Minister honored 20 sportspersons with his own hands while 55 were honored by the distinguished guests on the stage.
