Lucknow. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the process of confiscation of black money of mafia and criminals is going on in Uttar Pradesh. Between March 2017 and July 2021, the police have seized assets worth more than Rs 1848 crore from the mafia and criminals under the Gangster Act. The bulldozer of the administration has gone on fearlessly on the possession of the mafia.
Uttar Pradesh ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that since March 2017, 43294 accused have been arrested by registering 13801 cases under the Gangster Act. Action has also been taken against 630 accused under Rasuka. Apart from this, 10402 award-declared criminals up to Rs.25 thousand were arrested. 107 criminals worth more than 50 thousand rupees were caught. In 1447 cases of Gangster Act, the police confiscated movable and immovable property worth more than Rs 1848 crore of mafia and criminals.
ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar says that continuous action is being taken against the 25 listed mafia as well under the campaign. Assets worth more than Rs 702 crore of listed mafia have been attached. In these, properties worth Rs 194 crore of mafia Mukhtar Ansari and his gang members have been seized. Assets worth more than Rs 355 crore of Mafia Atiq Ahmed and gang members have been seized.
Similarly, assets worth Rs 63 crore of infamous Sundar Bhati and gang members were seized. Mafia Kuntu Singh’s assets worth more than 17 crores were confiscated. Under the action being taken against the listed mafia and their henchmen, more than 250 arms licenses have also been canceled so far. Along with demolishing illegal constructions, many government lands have also been freed from the possession of the mafia.
