Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday met the family members of a 9-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and murdered by four men at a crematorium near Delhi Cantonment in south-west Delhi and ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter. . Kejriwal also announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of the minor girl.
Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi after meeting the girl’s family, “I met the girl’s family, shared their pain, we will give financial help of Rs 10 lakh to the family. There will be a magisterial inquiry into the matter. Top to bring the culprits to justice.” Lawyers will be engaged. The central government should take strict steps to improve the law. We will extend full cooperation.”
Earlier, expressing grief over the incident, Kejriwal said, “The murder of a 9-year-old in Delhi after the rape is shameful. There is a need to improve the law and order situation in Delhi.”
Protests over the incident have been going on since Sunday and many politicians have been visiting the sit-in site or expressing their condolences on social media.
Earlier on Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also met the families of the innocent child and demanded justice for them.
On Tuesday, Gandhi tagged a Hindi news clip reporting the incident and tweeted, “Dalit ki beti bhi desh ki beti hai.”
AAP MLA and Deputy Speaker of Delhi Legislative Assembly Rakhi Birla and Delhi’s Women and Child Development Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam also visited the victim’s family.
The Delhi Police had said on Tuesday that a board of three doctors would conduct a post-mortem on the burnt remains of the girl.
In this case, four people, including a priest of the crematorium, have been arrested on charges of rape, murder and intimidation, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and sections related to the SC and ST Act.
Although the accused say that the girl died due to electrocution while fetching water from the electric cooler, but the family has alleged that the body was hurriedly cremated after the suspects intimidated the police to inform about her death. Cultivated.
Demanding death penalty to the four people and speedy justice through fast-track courts, around 200 people including the girl’s parents and local residents, politicians and social activists are protesting at Pankha Road near the crematorium.
The arrested people have been identified as Radheshyam (55), Salim (55), Lakshmi Narayan (49) and Kuldeep (63).
