Almora: A case has been registered against four people including the watershed worker who robbed the ration of the poor. Instead of delivering food grains to the needy cardholders, in this popular case related to hoarding of government ration, two kotdars running the government cheap galley were involved. At the same time, an NGO operator woman, who claims government wheat as her own, has also been found involved in the racket. After registering the report, the administration has started a thorough investigation. On May 30, 54 sacks of wheat were caught in the office of Jagnath Herbs and Organic Products Committee in Paligunaditya town of Dhaula Devi block. On May 28, about 48 quintals of food grains were unloaded from the RFC vehicle and deposited in the godown of the committee office. It was stocked by Jalagam project employee Alok Dubey. When Paligunaditya’s former village head Indra Paliwal, former district panchayat president Mohan Singh Mehra and former head of Chaligaon, Khimanand Paliwal, came to know about this, there was a ruckus. In the warehouse there were sacks of cheap government balls. Some sacks had been changed. Villagers made a video of illegal storage in the godown and gave it to the print media and the Naib Tehsildar.

The Naib Tehsil and Revenue Sub Inspectors then inspected the spot. 8.50 quintals of wheat were caught in the upper floor and 54 sacks of wheat in the ground floor. SDM Monika called it serious and set up an inquiry. Here, the legal screws were tightened after the investigation revealed the scam in hoarding and distribution of government food grains. On Thursday evening, Revenue Sub-Inspector Chandra Singh Rathod said that Jagat Ram, daughter of Godavari Arya running the NGO, Alok Dubey, employee of Gramya, Laxmi Dutta, the government cheap gall seller of Paligunaditya and Gopal Dutt of Tadkot, were booked under Section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act.
