Chandigarh Corona cases are continuously increasing in Punjab. In such a situation, the state government is preparing to apply corona vaccine to two lakh people every day, but due to lack of vaccines, the government is not able to do so. Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh says that at present, about 90 thousand people are being vaccinated every day. The current stock of vaccines in the state is of 5 days (5.7 lakh covid vaccine doses). In such a situation, if two lakh people are vaccinated daily, then the stock of currently available vaccines will be exhausted in three days.
Let me tell you, to overcome the death rate in Punjab, the Chief Secretary of the state, Vini Mahajan, instructed the Health Department to expedite the ongoing vaccination campaign. The target is to immunize two lakh people daily. But the CM has now informed by tweeting that if the state goes according to the target, then the vaccine will be finished in three days.
Vini Mahajan also announced a special fund of one crore rupees for each district for proper management of Kovid in the state. Presiding over a high-level meeting to review the current situation of Kovid in the state, he said that there is no dearth of funds in the fight with the epidemic. He also instructed the Health Department to undertake large-scale vaccination on two days a week (Tuesday and Friday) to defeat the virus, to cover as many people as possible. He fixed the state’s weekly target for the month of April to have more than 16 lakh persons vaccinated.
Appealing to the eligible persons to get vaccinated as soon as possible, he said that vaccination is being done all the days of the week and there is no age limit for vaccinations for health and frontline employees. He further said that higher officials can empower employees from the list of employees required for vaccination registration.
Reviewing the Kovid status with administrative secretaries, deputy commissioners, police commissioners / senior superintendents of police and other senior officials of the state, the chief secretary instructed the officers to increase the number of samples taken to 50,000 per day and follow each positive person. At least 20 contacts should be detected and tested according to protocol, to prevent the spread of the virus.
