Kolkata. Voting has started for the third phase in West Bengal. Voting has started for 31 seats today. In the third phase, a total of 205 candidates are in the fray for 31 seats in three districts of Howrah, Hooghly and South 24 Parganas. All these seats have been declared sensitive and Section 144 is applicable there. Howrah has seven seats, Hooghly eight and South 24 Parganas district has 16 seats. In the last Vidhan Sabha elections, 30 of these 31 seats were captured by the Trinamool Congress. The Congress won only the general seat. A total of 78,52,425 voters will exercise their franchise in 10,871 booths in the third phase. 618 companies of central forces are deployed. The maximum number of 307 companies will be deployed in South 24 Parganas district. Many seats here have been declared sensitive.

Elections on seven seats of Howrah – Aamata, Udayanarayanpur, Jagataballabhpur, Ulberia North (reserved), Ulberia South, Shyampur, Bagnan.

Elections in phase eight and results on May 2
Voting is going to be held in eight phases on 294 assembly seats in the state. The first phase of polling on 27 March and the second phase of polling on 1 April, 6 April i.e. the third phase of polling today, the fourth on 10 April, the fifth on 17 April, the sixth on 22 April, the seventh on 26 April and the eighth phase on 29 April. Voting will take place. The results will come on May 2.
