Dehradun. Timmarsain Mahadev’s journey is expected to begin within a week in the Neeti Valley of Chamoli district bordering the India-China border. Shiva lingam takes shape like Amarnath in a cave situated on the hill called Timmarsain near Neeti, the last village in the country. After being freed from the restrictions of the inner line, the administration is now finalizing the preparations for the Timmarsain Yatra. According to Chamoli district administration, the route connecting Timmarsain has been cleared by the BRO. Now a post is to be set up in Bampa to arrange for a doctor and ambulance. On the other hand, Secretary Tourism Dilip Javalkar said that the Chamoli district administration will be given full support by the government in the Timmarsain Yatra.
Timmarsain Mahadev means Baba Barfani’s cave, near Neeti village, about 82 km from Joshimath. The Shivling that takes shape here is up to eight feet in height, but people from other parts of the country were unaware of this place. Although local residents worship in Timmarsain, due to the restrictions of the inner line, people from other areas were not allowed to come here. Being a strategically important area, it was placed under the ambit of the inner line. Meanwhile, the government knocked the central government in view of developing Timmarsain for religious and adventure tourism. As a result, in December last year, the central government removed Timmarsain Mahadev from the inner line. That is, any person can go there to see Baba Barfani.
After this success, the government decided to start the journey of Timmarsain Mahadev like Amarnath. Now its preparations have been speeded up. According to Chamoli District Magistrate Swati S Bhadauria, the BRO has cleared the road along with removing snow from the route connecting Timmarsain. He informed that now the team of administration and tourism department will send Timmarsain for Reiki in view of the journey. Besides, arrangements are to be made for the establishment of posts in Bampa and stay of doctors and medical staff there.
District Magistrate Bhadauria said that Timmarsain is a high Himalayan region. Therefore, passengers will be sent to Timmarsain only after health checkup. The number of passengers sent every day in a day or two will also be determined. The effort is to start the Timmarsain Yatra within a week.
