New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Wednesday questioned the central government about the possibility of misuse of funds raised by political parties in electoral bonds such as terrorism. The Supreme Court wanted to know whether there is any control over the use of this fund?
A bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde told Attorney General KK Venugopal that the government should look at how to prevent the use of funds from electoral bonds for illegal purposes such as terrorism. The bench also consisted of Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubrahmanyan.
The court said what kind of control does the government have over how this money will be used? The court reserved its verdict on a petition filed in this regard. The petition sought to direct the government to stop opening electoral bonds before the upcoming assembly elections. The bench said that the fund can be misused. The government should look into this matter.
